Is possible to create a piano soundboard with all the strings resonating in it? I can’t find the piano soundboard object and also I can’t see a method for simulating sympathetic resonance. Any hep will be greatly appreciated.

Support seems to be scarce and random on this forum. :-((

You don’t tell whether you are using the Modalys in Lisp or within Max. There was a patch posted on the forum which shows how to use the soundboard file within Max. Here’s my revised version.

Sorry but i am not a specialist in Modalys. I remember that some time ago there has been a remodeling of a piano soundboard with modalys, a big project. But since this concerned a thesis and a thorough research back then, and i don’t have personally access to these archives, maybe someone from modalys team will respond. However, you should consider that this team is undergoing a restructuring. So you will have to be patient.
Best regards

Thank you for the answers. I’ll catch as much as I can from your suggestions.

There are two piano soundboards analysis in the Modalys application folder (/Applications/Modalys/Examples/analysis/piano-soundboard.txt & /Applications/Modalys/Examples/analysis/piano-soundboard2.txt) that can be loaded in a reson-model modalys object but there are just the 17 first modes available, so it doesn’t sound so well (better for lower pitches).

I did some try with impulse responses of violins with a spat.conv~ object after modalys~ with success. Perhaps it can be also a solution for the piano soundboard…
