JUAN ARROYO, PERUVIAN COMPOSER IN RESIDENCY AT IRCAM
Abstract
As part of his artistic research residency in the Instrumental Acoustic team and in the Augmented Instruments unity project, Juan Arroyo, peruvian composer, presents his project : " Around the writing of a quartet of augmented instruments" in collaboration with Quatuor Tana.
Borrowing sound properties of percussion instruments, controlled by the string hybrid quartet instruments.
From Juan Arroyo's research, the instruments used for this project are the Quatuor Tana's hybrid instruments, inspired by the concept of the acoustician-researcher Adrien Mamou-Mani, coordinator of the "Active Musical Instruments including Virtual Adjustments" (IMAREV, initiated by the French National Research Agency and IRCAM), surrounded by the Quatuor Tana musicians and the stringed instrument maker Lucas Balay.
