Research and Creativity Seminar : Soft Robotics and Exo-biote project

  • Monday 21 September 2015 12h00 - 13h00 (local time)

JONATHAN PEPE (Fresnoy) & CHRISTIAN DUREZ (Inria Lille) PRESENT "SOFT ROBOTICS" AND PROJET EXO-BIOTE.

Abstract

By distorting developed technologies as part of "soft robotics" process, Exo-biote project aims to invent a typology of possible moves and shapes. The installation from this work depicts sculptures-objects in movement, which seem to be fill with air by following a life of their own. Conscious to belong to an overall, its components appear to have moods that we can notice by its organs beating.

A spasmodic choreography takes the audience into an introspective journey. It's a question of making the apagogy of softs robots, by suggesting a hypothetical everyday consumer product - giving us the semblance of presented objects, ready to be consummate like substitute organs produced in series...

Author of this work,  Jonathan Pepe, student at the Fresnoy, has collaborated with INRIA Lille 's Defrost team directed by Christian Duriez, who conducts research in Softs robots models and control.

During this seminar, Christian Duriez and Jonathan Pepe will present respectively their research work in the "soft-robots" field and their collaboration in the context of this work.
