With the emergence of immersive technologies, the acoustics we encounter daily in the real world coexist with artificial ones. From large multichannel systems for live music to navigating a scene in augmented reality, the technologies we use to reproduce the aesthetic experience of an acoustic space are quickly evolving to adapt to new realities. In his presentation, Benoit Alary (researcher, IRCAM) will review some of the technologies being developed at IRCAM to create immersive reverberation. We will discuss key aspects of room acoustics, how we perceive them, and how a space can be reproduced either realistically or creatively. With these tools, we want to explore fresh paradigms for creating complex spatial reverberation that can evolve with the creative language emerging from designing new immersive experiences.
