This session presents the technical implementations of three sound installations from the exhibition part at the 2025 C-LAB Sound Festival: DIVERSONICS.
➡️ This presentation is part of IRCAM Forum Workshops Paris / Enghien-les-Bains March 2026

The Price of War — SHYU Ruey-Shiann, LIN Ge-Wei, LIN Chao-Yu, DEAN Chi-You
A WiFi-controlled network of 100 baby strollers, each driven by an Arduino-based MCU, wireless module, and MP3 player, all time-synchronized with ambient tracks containing precisely placed explosion cues. A central host coordinates two playback modes: Auto Mode (fixed volume) and Push Mode, where a rotary encoder detects movement to trigger volume fade-in and fade-out.

Tender Soul of Ocean: recall — WHYIXD & KLING KLANG KLONG
A custom generative sound engine controlled via OSC cross-references three live data streams — wind parameters, infrared-tracked audience movement, and the sculpture's light engine — to continuously shape the sonic environment. Spatialization uses Ambisonics, optionally decoded with IRCAM's Spat (Max/MSP), and algorithmic composition ensures no two experiences repeat.

DRIFT IN TIME — ULTRACOMBOS, Cicada, LIN Yu-De
Audio is analyzed in real-time, extracting spectral and timbral features that are transmitted via OSC to drive generative visual rendering. This session will focus on the live performance version, in which sound and image are structurally coupled and continuously shaped by the ensemble's playing.
Also presented in this C-LAB session: Reciter(s) by Po-Hao Chi — a distributed sound performance also featured in 2025 DIVERSONICS.
