Presented by Benjamin Duboc and Diemo Schwarz
Ensemble Ikosikaihenagone of 21 musicians was founded by Benjamin Duboc in 2021. We will show how interactive synthesis techniques built with the MuBu framework for Max can be integrated into two comprovisation pieces to create a musical context that navigates between precision and liveness. In the piece Volumes II, additive synthesis with fine control of harmonics creates an immersive sonic bed for the acoustic instruments that can oscillate between stable and moving states. In the piece Oratorio, Mubu’s granular and PSOLA resynthesis is used to freeze the spoken voice of the musicians in order to create infinite chords retaining the identity of each individual voice, and allowing fine control of mix, micro-tuning and spatialisation.
