Kǎn is the symbol for water in Feng Shui, the Chinese philosophy of the relationship between man and nature. Water is a component of the human being, and the world is connected by it. Nowadays, data is like water connecting the world.

Yellow Wasabi proposes to use transdisciplinary methods, arts and sciences, to reconnect human and water through an interactive audiovisual experience realized by data. Yellow Wasabi plays the Guzheng, the traditional Chinese harp, amplified in electroacoustic program, and reproduces the gesture of water in Qigong, captured by an intelligent motion tracker. The resonant sound is arranged by an underwater recording in a musical composition process under Max/MSP.
Yellow Wasabi generates an interactive 3D neural network projection from the soundscape of the Guzheng and the water, creating an immersive space. The audience will be able to connect to the water via OSC interaction and revisit their relationship with it. The public will be aware that their behavior affects the water, which will be reflected in sound and musical variations. Only with an inclusive spirit can the relationship between man and water achieve harmony.

For revisiting the relationship between the instrument, the musician and the audience, Yellow Wasabi seeks further collaboration on connecting musician and audience via the Guzheng, using electronic modules capable of measuring physiological data such as heartbeat, body temperature or respiration. In this way, transmitters and receivers can interact in real time, giving physiological feedback when they hear the music.
