Abstract: In this demo I will show concert or video documentation and present the concepts about two works that use Rave and Somax:

1) "Poem for G" for voice and alto flute, which will be premiered in Maastricht 20. September, shows a live implementation of these technologies. They build a framework for a three-layered interplay of flute sounds, text (derived from Anne Sexon's "O Ye Tongues"), and synthesized sounds (wavetable synthesis and pvocoder).

 

The second work "Velocity Bounce" is an audio/visual short installation featuring Somax and Rave in conjunction with visuals produced by Tölvera, a python library which uses algorithms from A-life (flocking, swarming, growth) to simulate particle behavior. The data from these particles is used to navigate latent spaces in Rave models, which then under certain circumstances will engage with Somax players.
