Presentation artist Call Art Music Danemark & networking cocktail at Maison du Danemark

Art Music Denmark and Ircam are offering a Danish composer or musician the opportunity to participate in the Ircam Forum Workshops as part of an open call launched in January.

➡️ The presentation and networking cocktail are part of IRCAM Forum Workshops Paris / Enghien-les-Bains March 2026

Wednesday 18/03 - 15:00 : Presentation by Marcela Lucatelli

Following to the open call launched in January, we are delighted to announce the artist who has been selected: Marcela Lucatelli.

Marcela Lucatelli will present  the development of The Inhuman Human Voice, a performative sound work for voice, interactive neural synthesis, and a multichannel loudspeaker system, premiering at the Cisterns during Copenhagen Opera Festival 2026. The project is a collaboration between composer and performer Marcela Lucatelli and sound artist and researcher Gianluca Elia.

The work employs neural synthesis models (RAVE/ACIDS-IRCAM), trained exclusively on Lucatelli’s voice, to generate a polyphonic, machine-mediated choir that responds live to vocal performance and unfolds through spatialized sound. Rather than treating machine learning as a transparent or efficiency-driven tool, the project deliberately foregrounds mistranslations, displacements, and temporal lag within the neural process. These deviations become core aesthetic and dramaturgical materials, exploring questions of control, imitation, and autonomy in human–machine interaction.

The presentation will address the artistic and technical development of the interactive system, including latent space manipulation, noise, lag, and inter-model feedback, while examining how the work reconceptualizes the voice as a distributed, unstable system in which meaning, presence, and agency are negotiated among body, machine, and space.

Thursday 19/03 - 19:00 : Conference with Marcela Lucatelli & networking cocktail at Le Bicolore (Maison du Danemark)

The selected artist will participate in a talk about their project at the gallery Le Bicolore on March 19.

The talk will be part of a networking reception organized by Maison du Danemark – Le Bicolore and The Danish Embassy in Paris in collaboration with Art Music Denmark and Ircam.

There will also be an introduction about the on-going exhibition Liberté et Tradition featuring works by acclaimed Danish artists : Bjørn Nørgaard, Tal R, Kirstine Roepstorff and Alexander Tovborg.
