IRRRI is a speculative audiovisual archaeology of our era, viewed in a distorted manner (AI processing) from a distant future, where researchers explore our media sphere in an attempt to understand how our society collapsed.

Technology :

In collaboration with IRCAM's ACIDS laboratory, artists are exploring ‘code-bending’: diverting AFTER models (the successor to RAVE) from their intended use. This approach emphasises error and unstable transitions between harmony and dissonance, coherence and hallucination. To accompany this, IRCAM is developing ‘Torch-bend’, a tool inspired by circuit bending that allows for controlled ‘misuse’ of model architectures via PyTorch, generating unpredictable transformations. Performance thus becomes an act of speculative media archaeology, where artists and machines navigate together through living archives, blurring past and present, signal and noise.

NB : All models are trained on personal sound datasets, hours of my own sounds. No copyrighted material is used for the neural synthesis/AI aspect of this project.
