The STMS laboratory at IRCAM unites researchers from leading French institutions to advance musical expression through science and technology, with this presentation highlighting recent work, particularly in spatial audio and acoustics.

The Science and Technology of Music and Sound (STMS) laboratory is a scientific unit within IRCAM bringing together staff from the National Scientific Research Center, Sorbonne University, the French Ministry of Culture, and IRCAM. The work of the laboratory is devoted to the renewal of musical expression through contributions in computer science, acoustics, signal processing, cognitive sciences, and musicology. In this presentation, we will review some of the recent contributions of the research teams. The presentation will also include a more in-depth overview of recent and current research in spatial audio and acoustics.
