During the Musica Electronica Nova Festival in Wroclaw, Poland.
With Tensio, Philippe Manoury continues his work on the intimate relationship between the instrument and electronics. Allusion to the tension of strings, intensified by computer instrument making, this string quartet is constructed in seven sections that successively favor mobility, pressure, glissandos, density, variation, pizzicati, rotation through contributions made by new systems for sound synthesis. We can find certain themes previously explored by the composer in older scores (e.g. Partita I) and above all, the unending quest to invent music in which the machine is a true partner.
Featuring various Ircam technologies in real-time including Antescofo, Modalys and Spat.
