As a follow-up to the November 6th presentation (Acoustics for musicians: from concert halls to virtual realities by Benoit Alary), this workshop will demonstrate the use of Elliptique, a spatial reverberator recently developed for Spat5 and Max/MSP. We will take an in-depth look at how this reverberator can be used to create complex spatial reverberation during a live performance. Through a series of demonstrations and sound examples, we will explore different ways of using Elliptique. We will produce both realistic reverberation as well as ethereal acoustics, and discuss how to design a Max patch that can adapt to different multichannel systems. Prior experience with Spat5 or Max/MSP is recommended, but the key concepts presented in this workshop also apply beyond the scope of these technologies, so anyone interested in immersive sound technologies is welcome to attend.
