CAC sketchbook: Linear A

Presented during the IRCAM Forum @NYU 2022

The piece was composed entirely using Computer-Assisted Compostion tools created with the bach library. With these patches, I could compose lines for the BP clarinet in bach.rolls, using a good microtonal approximation and with meter-free notation that would later be quantized. Using bach markers to denote canonic replies to these lines (at varying transpositions and speeds), I was able to visualize and hear the entire canonic texture.

A further patch allowed the automatic export of the bach score to an Antescofo~ file which would convert the notated polyphonic texture to instructions for performance using buffers piloted by SuperVP. All in all, I was able to created an integrated environment for working with canon, microtones, and electronics, unhindered by the usual constraints of Finale/Sibelius/Dorico, and pushed it to created a complete piece and an electronic score. I would be thrilled to share this research.
