Open Call Forum Workshops Riga-Liepaja 2025

Within the framework of the Ircam Forum Workshops in Rīga - Liepāja (Latvia), we are calling for your proposals for lectures, demos, installations or workshops.

This call is open to our Forum members but also to non-members (composers, independent artists, students, music professionals,...).

We particularly encourage talks and demos on following themes :

  • Sound synthesis
  • Composition Assisted by computer
  • AI & Music
  • Real Time technologies

Submissions

You'll need to fill in the online form available here.

Please submit your proposal before the deadline of June 30, 2025.

Only complete proposals will be considered : your submission will be complete once you received a confirmation by email.

➡️ You will receive a confirmation by email after having submit the form.

➡️ If you haven't received an email, check the following information :

- The submission form includes 8 steps. Your progression is shown on top of the questions (for example 1/8, 2/8,...).

- When you arrived at step 6/8 ("Technical file & visuals"), you need to click on "PREVIEW". Then you need to go all down to the bottom of the preview page and click on "SUBMIT".

Proposals will be accepted for talks in English. The majority of presentations by IRCAM researchers and guest artists will be in English.

The Forum team will make a selection based on the resources available (space, technical equipment and available team) and the quality of the proposal, while paying particular attention to the diversity of the overall selection.

Types of proposals for contributions: 

Lectures: 

In addition to presentations given by Ircam teams, presentations by partners and Forum members involving new technologies are welcome. Accepted presentations will be scheduled in dedicated sessions during the Ircam Forum workshops in a conference room equipped with internet access, stereo sound and a video screen.

Duration: 10min installation + 20min conference + 10min questions

Demos: 

Demonstrations of Ircam technologies by Forum members, computer music designers and artists from around the world. The demonstration rooms will be equipped with at least a video projector and a stereo audio system, and several sessions devoted to spatialized sound will take place in multichannel studios.

N.B. the demos accepted must not exceed the maximum duration proposed and must not require technical resources other than those of the various spaces proposed (refer to the technical sheet) / a demo can take different forms but under no circumstances a concert!

Duration: 30 min installation + 20 min demo + 10 min questions + 10 min dismantling.

Audiovisual installations:

These are artistic or scientific audiovisual projects, which may be interactive. They will be installed in a suitable space over a relatively long period (up to half a day), allowing participants to visit the installation during the demonstration or for one of the many short sessions planned (15 to 30 minutes each).

Duration: 30-60 min installation + 1h30-4h demo + 30 min dismantling

Workshops:

A workshop is an interactive training session in which participants acquire practical skills on a specific subject. Led by experts, these workshops enable participants to acquire practical knowledge through presentations, demonstrations and interactive exercises. They encourage active learning and interaction with trainers and other participants. Participants must register in advance so that the facilitator can prepare the workshop appropriately.

Duration: 10 min set-up + 75 min + 5 min dismantling
