Howling Vault-controlling audio feedback with flocking algorithms in the dome

This Howling vault project applied my previous work to an ambisonic dome. In my previous work, Logistic Feedback, I used a single-layer 2D panning method. Then, I visited Ircam Studio early this year to present the project, and I was able to experience audio feedback sound in a spherical sound system. The 3D sound experience in the spherical sound system was more sweet-spot-defining and immersive body experience than the single-layer 2D sound.

After visiting Paris, I thought I should make my own dome, and I was able to exhibit it as a good opportunity. The dome structure was made of a geodesic structure. (3v 3/8 diameter 6m) I designed a 12.2-channel sound system (5:5:2) on top of the structure, and invited three different background artists (audiovisual artist, traditional instrument player, noise musician) to perform three different performances inside the dome. The archive video is attached below. Here, I used the SPAT5 and panned the sound sources using the vbap 3d panning method. Of course, I applied the flucking algorithm consisting of 16 particles to make the sounds move freely and randomly in the space.

Recently, I constructed the second dome, a 7-meter diameter and 3v 5/8 hemisphere. The audio is configured as 16.2 channels (5:5:5:1). The structure has one more layer than before, doubling its height to 5 meters. (Previously, it was 2.8 meters high.) Next time, I think about making a full-spherical dome structure and a sound system. Also, instead of speakers hanging from the dome structure, I imagine a structure with a speaker system built into the dome structure itself. I also want to add a waterproofing for the sound system and create an outdoor portable concert hall that is easy to install and de-install.
