“TSofL” (the SPAT Operator for Live) is a branch of Max for Live devices that features a modular and interfaced SPAT model made within the Max for Live environment. For Ableton Live users, it allows for up to 32 stereo sources and 64 speakers to be performed simultaneously. TSofL contains several devices: TSofL SPAT, TSofL Room, TSofL Source, and TSofL Matrix.
“TSofL SPAT” is the main SPAT processing surface, enabling users to establish a module suitable for their specific requirements. While “TSofL Room” defines the room effects of the SPAT, “TSofL Source” defines the source effects.
“TSofL Matrix” is a Max for Live device designed to receive multichannel outputs (primarily for TSofL SPAT or other multichannel M4L devices), record multichannel sound files, and perform bus sends within a single device. Its main usage includes quickly and efficiently assigning multichannel outputs to external outputs (64 inputs multiplied by 64 outputs) with just a few selections, multichannel volume control, and multichannel file recording, rather than adding numerous empty tracks and assigning them to individual destinations (channels).
“TSofL” also has a standalone version, “TSofM,” which includes “TSofM SPAT” and “TSofM SPAT Send.” The “TSofM SPAT Send” device processes the SPAT viewer, positions OSC, collects SPAT configurations inside Ableton Live, and communicates with “TSofM SPAT.” The “TSofM SPAT” handles all spatialization audio processes outside of Ableton Live (on Max), significantly reducing CPU usage in Ableton Live.
