The purpose of this conference is to provide an overview of IRCAM's research and its applications. After an introduction of IRCAM’s organizational model combining scientific research, artistic production and technological innovation, it will present the current research themes in the field of sound and music technologies: sound analysis, synthesis and processing, 3D audio, computer-assisted composition, computer-assisted improvisation, gesture/sound interaction, real-time languages for interactive musical processes, sound cognition and design. Each theme will be illustrated by applications for artistic production, the creative and cultural industries and other fields of activity (automotive, healthcare, etc.).

Bio : Hugues Vinet is Director of Innovation and Research Means of IRCAM. He has managed all research, development and innovation activities at IRCAM for the last 30 years. He co-founded and ran for several terms the STMS (Science and Technology of Music and Sound) joint lab with French Ministry of Culture, CNRS and Sorbonne University. He previously worked as senior engineer at the National Institute of Audiovisual in Paris where he managed the musical research and designed the first versions of the award-winning real-time audio processing GRM Tools product. He has coordinated many collaborative R&I projects including recently the VERTIGO project managing a large-scale program of artistic residencies in European labs and the France 2030 Continuum project developing a new sound immersive experience for live performance. He is currently IRCAM’s PI in the DAFNE+ EU project developing a blockchain/NFT based platform for fair distribution of digital artworks. He participates in various bodies of experts in the fields of audio, music, multimedia, information technology and innovation.
